PLN Growth Reflection
@TexBeth Beth is a teacher at a Montessori school and is finding creative ways to use Minecraft as a tool for students to build virtual models of different topics they are studying. @PlayCraftLearn Has many resources on their Twitter page as well as on their webpage (education.minecraft.net/ISTE). Minecraft can be used in so many different subjects and with sites like theirs, it will be easy to get motivated to craft. @johnCfallon Is a user that unfortunately hasn’t updated his main website in little while, thealternateclassroom.org. Has some great examples that John has used to incorporate some type of gaming into his classroom. @PaulDarvasi Paul is sort of a jack of all trades. He seems to be really passionate about gaming and education and finding a balance in the two. I would definitely take a look at his site for some pretty cool gaming ideas that fit into the classroom http://www.ludiclearning.org/ . @NotDeadDesigner Theodor Kipen is a game designer working on a education Kana learning game called Kana Quest. The art and design is very cool and looks like early 90s video games. The passion is clearly there to incorporate gaming and education. My overall experience in this course has been very positive. My use of blogging and Tweeting has definitely increased. I have learned invaluable information that I would not have known otherwise. How to properly navigate all that can be done in Twitter has been the biggest aha moment for me. Establishing my own website and identity through Twitter has added a greater sense of professionalism that can shine on my resume. The connection I have made and will continue to make will aid me throughout my career and help me develop my skills further. The roadblocks I faced were mainly sitting down and looking through Twitter. Having my account solely for professional purposes helps relieve the unneeded distractions that happen on Facebook or Instagram. When searching through Twitter, I start with a set hashtag or person to search for and it develops from there. Using that method I have been able to start my journey on creating my PLN. The other challenge I faced was learning how to add users with value. Educators give and take knowledge and dedicating time to Twitter means that there has to be some value at the end. Whether it be find a new user who has great ideas on Chromebook management or finding a great Twitter Chat via a hashtag, there has to be value. That is the other challenge I learned to overcome. I found myself skipping over users who haven’t been active and getting lost in the profiles and tweets of those who are daily users. I have gained many great ideas from my PLN. The most recent one seems simple but is a great example. I tweeted about @LAMBRADLEY and her tutorial on adding a Twitter feed to a Weebly site goo.gl/UxSTKr . Simple things like that show the immediate value of having a PLN in development. I have a long ways to go, but with the experience of ET 735, the journey to my PLN will be a lot smoother.

After adding the social media widgets here on Weebly, I noticed at times the feed would not show suing the widget I chose. After a bit of research on through Google I found Laura Bradley and her excellent walk through for using Twitter's settings to create a widget that would stream to my Weebly page. Have fun and enjoy.
@LAMBRADLEY laurabradley.me I was originally going to just keep my blog from Blogger and embed it into this Weebly site because I didn't want to go through the process of starting my blog all over, but, I decided to take a risk and use the existing blog interface Weebly has in order to try something new. I posted on my blogger site my something new as well, but, will be the last post on there. For ease of navigation, I will condense it all into this Weebly page.
